This morning I fed the kits the homemade milk replacer, this time with a Q-tip. Most were so hungry that they eagerly latched on to it and nursed just like they would a nipple. None of them ate very much, but keeping it warm helps to keep them interested.
I also decided to take them back out to the doe this morning on a "hunch" now that they were very awake and making a lot of noise.
She has begun attacking the nest box as soon as I place it in the cage. Literally biting it. Cant wait to do her in... Gr.
Got her in there and the kits nursed for a good 5 minutes like they have been, however THIS time, each came out with nice huge round tummies.
Maybe her milk only just came in? I have no idea. I would MUCH rather they have her milk than the replacer that I made, so I'll continue to give them tastes of the replacement to wake them up and give them some enertgy, and then take them out to her.
Making the kits urinate has become a contest betweent the husband and I... one I always lose. I simply cannot get them to do it. It take him a few minutes to get them all done. There is a trick to it that I havent learned.
